NordForsk receives 56 applications under call for proposals on Sustainable Urban Development and Smart Cities

The interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral call was issued to address challenges of urban and regional life in cities. The call stresses successful implementation of essential knowledge and has two overarching perspectives:

  • Integration of different dimensions of urban sustainability in the framework of the UN Sustainable Development Goals
  • Co-production – a way to extend research activities to bridge gaps between knowledge, understanding, and action

The application deadline was 4 June 2019 and the call has a budget of NOK 50 million.

The applications will be evaluated by a panel of international experts. Four projects will be funded.

The call was launched under the Nordic Programme on Sustainable Urban Development and Smart Cities. The programme is funded by Forte, Formas, Academy of Finland, the Research Council of Norway, the Swedish Energy Agency and NordForsk.
