Kristin Andersen, Special Advisor at NordForsk and responsible for the call, emphasises the breadth of the networks:
‘We are very pleased with the interest in the call, and that the networks being funded cover different disciplines. From language, education, art and design to social studies and health. It's exciting that all three are working towards the call's goals with quite different strategies and methodologies. We look forward to following the work, and to hearing about the results from the networks.’
The overall goal of the networks is to contribute to the sustainable and ethically sound development of societies and areas in which indigenous peoples have interests. The call was issued in April 2024, and by the end of the application period, 11 applications had been received. Each network will have a duration of two years.
In the call, it was emphasised that applicant networks should be led by a researcher early in his or her career, and that it would be an advantage if several young researchers were given key tasks in the network.
