Event recording
Two Nordic programmes: the Nordic Green Growth Research and Innovation Programme and the Nordic Bioeconomy Programme, survey the limits of bioeconomy and present ways to the circular economy in the Nordic countries.
The programmes are a collaboration among five Nordic countries - Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden, aimed at fostering sustainable growth and green transformation. The focus of the programmes is on promoting research, innovation and entrepreneurship within the Nordic green economy, where sustainability and economic growth go hand in hand. Their results are coming from successful cross-disciplinary and cross-sectoral cooperation between academia, industry, and the public sector.
The programmes have invested in a broad range of initiatives, from basic research to demonstration projects, with the aim of fostering green entrepreneurship and creating new jobs while contributing to a cleaner planet. The results will lead to innovative solutions for pressing environmental challenges, such as climate change, biodiversity loss, and resource depletion.
The session will demonstrate how the Nordic countries can create sustainable solutions by utilizing industrial side streams and communal waste. Also, the session illuminates how regional, national and EU-level regulation affects the implementation of green growth agendas. Not all regions are equally well equipped to use cutting-edge technologies. The session presents scenarios, the Nordic bioeconomy pathways, for sustainable use of natural resources.
The session aligns with the Nordic countries’ efforts towards achieving the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals and the Nordic region's position as a global leader in green growth.
OBS: Time zone is UTC+2.
