The goal of this project is to, for the first time, create a joint Nordic long-term academic collaboration on pandemic preparedness using advanced mathematical modelling and systematically collected health data from a broad range of sources.

Societal change is accelerating through continued rapid population growth and significant changes in demographics, technological advances, and increasing interconnectedness between various infrastructures. Together with climate change and a new global security situation these trends will inevitably lead to a change in the risk landscape. One of the key actors that has to deal with such change is the Fire and Rescue Services. These organisations are both governed by, and dependent on, formal and informal networks.

How school systems respond to migration has an enormous impact on migrant integration. Schools can be a vehicle for social integration and mobility, and for developing a sense of belonging to the local community. But schools can also be an isolating and discriminatory place and act as a barrier to integration. Within schools, teachers are key for creating opportunities for learning and participation, especially for migrant students.

Migrants and solidarities: Negotiating deservingness in welfare micropublics (Solidaritites) breaks new ground by exploring how solidarities are imagined and practiced in negotiations of migrant deservingness. It explores the fundamental question of who is, and who is not, considered deserving of welfare services, how deservingness is negotiated and with what implications, in a context of increasing diversity driven by migration, welfare restructuring, and austerity.

SAFE project aims at utilizing the potential of oleaginous yeast and thraustochytrids and developing high-value oil enriched biomass containing carotenoids, astaxanthin and beta-glucans for salmon feed from wood-based materials.

NordicPATH’s overall objective is to establish a new model for citizens’ participation and collaborative planning in Nordic countries to create healthy and people-centred cities. The project is tackling complex environmental impacts such as air quality and climate change and is developing a method specifically targeted for the governance and the conditions of the Nordic countries with potential replicability and scalability to other countries.

The rise in international migration has brought important cultural and economic opportunities. It has also posed challenges, both for migrants and for wider society, in terms of integration and settlement, access to labour markets, housing and education.
